The Carter Messenger Bag by Swoon Sewing Patterns is by far my most favorite pattern from designer Alicia Miller! It has two generous compartments and a zippered section in the middle to keep your more valuable items secure. You can carry it with either a shoulder strap or a handle. I find that I opt to use the handle for carrying more often than the shoulder strap.
I chose to make mine from cork fabric for the exterior and 100% cotton quilting fabrics for the interior. The cork fabric definitely adds more structure to the bag which I think suits the Carter Messenger well.
